ArcGIS Explorer is a desktop software package that allows users to view GIS data and services. If you do not currently have ArcGIS Explorer, you can download it for free at http://www.esri.com/software/arcgis/explorer/index.html.
Below are simple instructions to add the Peak Flood
Forecast OGC Web Mapping Service (WMS) to ArcGIS Explorer.
1.) Click the "Add Content" dropdown in ArcGIS Explorer.
2.) From the Show of type dropdown select "Map and Globe
Services" as shown below.
3.) Select the WMS connection Icon at the top of the page.
4.) Type
"http://ffdt.rrbdin.org/mapmorphv1/cgi-bin/mapserv?map=../ffdtwms.map&"
in the Server text box and click "OK" as shown below.
5.) Specify a higher number for more general mapping
(50) or a smaller number for more details (1-5), then click next.
6.) Add the PeakFlood layer by selecting it and clicking the right arrow, then click next.
7.) This service is updated daily so removing the cache
when closing makes the most sense, then click finish.
8.) To view the layer click the zoom to layer icon.
9.) Changing the transparency will allow you to see through the layer.
10.) Zoom and pan around using the controls on the bottom of screen.
